Matilda’s favourite courses have focused on leadership in organizations, group dynamics, and how these two affect workplace outcomes. Psychological safety begins with the leaders, but everyone in the team has a role in maintaining the group’s wellbeing. Everything you do, or do not do, matters for the work atmosphere. One sign of psychological safety is being able to be yourself without fear of judgment. This helps the whole team do better.
Matilda has worked in customer service and also developed her leadership skills by working with children. She has played team sports for most of her life, especially floorball, which she plays at the national level and has also played internationally. Sports and different teams have taught her that a successful team needs talent and the leadership strategy, but most of all, a strong team spirit. She sees many similarities between work teams and sports teams. When people feel safe and respected, they dare to shine.
In the spring, Matilda will write her bachelor’s thesis. Although the specific topic is not yet decided, wellbeing at work is something that interests her and has a broad societal impact. When it comes to work, Matilda is especially interested in HR roles, because the combination of supporting individuals and developing organizations is important from a social psychological perspective and motivates her.
